Hi.

We are Gypsies who like it Risky.

Destination Austin

Home is where the star is.

Home is where the star is.

After our whirlwind tour of Destin and New Orleans next up on the list was Galveston, TX. As I said before coming back to Texas always gives me a strange warm and fuzzy feeling and driving through my old hometown of Houston to get to Galveston had me thinking of my childhood days. Oh the carefree and joy of childhood!!

Sadly Galveston was yet another destination where we parked Luna and just sat until it was time to leave the next morning. As I have stated many times one of my biggest fears of Riskypsy is how will I keep up my running. Galveston was the first true test and I past!  I took a little run on the beach and realized living in Florida has spoiled me for beaches. The brown sand, the brown water, and the tar on your feet is all well and good but it really hurt me was how much trash was on the beach. Come on Texas get your sh*t together.  All that trash and brown sand sure had me missing the white sands beaches of the Florida Gulf Coast, but it also brought back a lot of childhood memories again.  Most of those memories end with me in a vinegar bath for my sunburn and some wiping Vaseline on my feet to get the tar off, but I promise it was part of the fun.

All of this rush rush has gotten the Old Man and I a bit down, but we know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Namely after our trip to Austin and a little vacation/family time with my bio mom in San Antonio.

Since the Old Man had to meet with some very important people we opted to stay in a hotel while in Austin so that he could be smelling and looking fresh. I won’t lie it was nice to have a real shower that was my very own. The dogs really enjoyed the king sized bed, but after one night of crazy Texas weather we were all glad we made the hotel call.

Thankfully in Austin we got a bit of time to hang with some friends from Boston and actually see a bit of the town.  One night we meandered over to one of the Old Man’s old co-workers super awesome apartment for some wine and cheese.  The next night we met up with more old friends, again from Boston, and did a bit of bar hopping and catching up.  This trip was finally beginning to feel like how Riskypsy is suppose to be, well minus the sitting in my hotel room all day working. I don’t mind the working, but a better view would have been nice.

Next stop is San Antonio to see my bio mom. She has a no cell phone policy when I see her (unless you are the Old Man) so I am sure to be in a nice cocoon of running errands, watching old movies and just hanging around.  Thanks to her stroke mom naps a bit more than she used too, which means since I will be on vacation I get a few more naps than usual as well!  Whoot!!

Next up will be my first solo run while the Old Man whisks off to strange and exotic locals also knowns as Miami and Canada.
